zach-flahartyZach transitioned into the position of Office Manager in 2018. Zach assists with the day-to-day fiscal operation of the organization and works with Susquehanna National Heritage Area staff to address and resolve issues related to the finances of the organization. He provides support to our Board of Directors and assists with special events and programs. He also assists with Visitor Services and works with the Zimmerman Center Manager to create and deliver programming related to the Zimmerman Center history, the themes of the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, and regional culture and heritage.

A native of Hellam Township, Zach earned a degree in history from Shippensburg University. He previously worked at the National Watch & Clock Museum, serves on the boards of Rivertownes PA USA and the Lower Windsor Area Historical Society, and plays the baritone horn in several local bands. Zach served in the Chesapeake Conservation Corps for a one-year internship with SNHA and later rejoined our staff. During his time in the corps Zach created a paddle tour brochure for the Conejahela Flats that is available at the Zimmerman Center, Columbia Crossing and local outfitters.
